➡️ How to use CBD oil: this is what the law says in Spain (and the rest of Europe)
If you live in Spain, you should know that current legislation only allows topical use of cannabidiol oil. This has not always been the case.
Until 2019, CBD could be consumed. But that year, the legislation changed, and since then, the ingestion of cannabidiol in any of its forms (whether as oil, buds, or hashish) has not been allowed. Therefore, at CogolloCBD, we cannot recommend its consumption.
And is this the case throughout the European Union? No.
In fact, in countries like Germany, Italy, or France, cannabidiol is considered a food product. This means that it is completely legal to ingest it there, as long as the THC concentration does not exceed the 0.2% established by European regulations.
Something similar happens in the United States and Canada, where CBD in all its derivatives has the same consideration.
Now that we have this clear, let's take another step.

➡️ 3 ways to use CBD oil
Now let's look at all the ways to use this oil that exist, based on what studies say.
✅ 1. Sublingual
In countries where CBD oil ingestion is permitted, it is most commonly taken sublingually.
The process is:
- Drop a couple of drops under the tongue (this is easy because the oil usually comes in a small bottle with a dropper).
- Wait 1 to 2 minutes. This way, the oil will be absorbed through the mucous membranes of the tongue and will reach the bloodstream faster.
- After this time, swallow the rest of the oil.
This method promotes faster absorption of CBD.
Furthermore, studies indicate that it is also one of the best ways to enjoy all its properties. The reason is that, when ingested, CBD penetrates the bloodstream and interacts directly with our nervous system.
And how many drops should be used? There isn't a general amount, as it will vary depending on:
- Body weight.
- Whether the person is accustomed to it or not (it is advisable to start with smaller doses at first).
In countries where it is permitted, the general recommendation is to start with 1 or 2 drops. From there, it can be gradually increased to 3 or 4 drops, until the optimal dose for each person is found.
✅ 2. Topical
As we mentioned, in Spain the law only allows the topical use of CBD. In this case, cannabidiol does not penetrate the bloodstream.
This is because our skin has receptors of the endocannabinoid system: a part of the nervous system with which CBD is able to interact.

✅ 3. Vaporized
In some countries, it is also permitted to take vaporized CBD using electronic cigarettes: the famous vapes or "vapers".
These cigarettes work with a special type of CBD oil called "e-liquid CBD" or "liquid CBD" (note, this is a somewhat simplified explanation). When introduced into the vape, this liquid turns into vapor and is inhaled.
But are they legal in Spain? In principle, no, as it is still a way of ingesting CBD (and since it is not considered a food product, it is illegal).
And although you may have seen some sites that claim it is allowed to vape CBD oil, this point is not so clear. In fact, on more than one occasion, law enforcement agencies have seized CBD vapes. Therefore, it is preferable to be cautious.
