Taking CBD: Legal Status
Lately, it seems CBD has become fashionable, and for good reason. However, if you're considering taking it but have questions like:
- Is it legal to use this cannabinoid?
- What are the options for taking CBD?
These are the questions we will answer in this post. If you want to know if CBD is for you, keep reading.
➡️ Taking CBD, is it legal? Here's its status by country
As you probably already know, CBD, or cannabidiol, is a substance called a "cannabinoid," named because it is extracted from the cannabis plant.
But unlike other cannabinoids like THC, CBD has no psychotropic effects.
On the contrary: this substance has many appealing properties. This is why the use of CBD is being studied for many purposes. But what is its legal status? Well, that depends on the country we are talking about:
- CBD in Spain: In our country, CBD can be legally purchased in all its forms (oil, buds or hash, or as an ingredient in cosmetics) but its sale as a food product is not permitted. According to a law enacted in 2018, CBD is only allowed for topical use. In addition, the use of CBD for pets is also allowed. In Europe, this legislation varies greatly by country (for example, in Germany, CBD consumption is completely legal).
- CBD in the United States / Canada: Unlike Spain, in these countries, CBD is allowed as a food product. Thus, in addition to topical use, it is also permitted to take it orally in the form of oil, vaped, or inhaled.
Now that we have this clear, let's delve a little deeper.
➡️ The 3 most common ways to use cannabidiol
Remember that CBD is not a medication and is not intended to replace any treatment prescribed by a healthcare professional.
But it has been shown to be effective in alleviating the symptoms of certain diseases.
These are the most popular ways to take advantage of its many properties.
✅ 1. Sublingual (CBD oil)
As we told you, this way of taking CBD is not legal in Spain, where cannabidiol is not approved for food use.
In other countries where it is allowed, such as the United States or Canada, CBD is usually taken in oil form.
The recommended dose is between 2 and 4 drops per day, but this varies depending on:
- Your body weight.
- The concentration of CBD in the oil (whether it has 10% cannabidiol, 20%, etc.).
- The severity of your ailment (for example, if you have mild sleep problems, you will need less CBD than if you suffer from recurrent insomnia).
What is recommended in the medical guidelines of these countries is to start with a small dose, 1 or 2 drops, to gauge the effects, and gradually increase the dose to 3-4 drops as needed.
These guidelines are the same if you decide to use CBD for your pet.

✅ 2. Topical
This option is permitted in Spain and other countries.
Many of CBD's properties, such as its anti-inflammatory and relaxing effects, can be enjoyed by applying it to the skin.
It is useful for:
- Reducing inflammation.
- Relieving itching in cases of psoriasis, dermatitis, and other skin diseases.
- Eliminating acne.
- Alleviating neck and back pain.
To use CBD topically, you can purchase it:
- In oil form: Apply a few drops to the affected area and spread carefully so that the product permeates the skin and is absorbed.
- As an ingredient in creams: Some cosmetic products include cannabidiol extract, so this is another way to enjoy CBD's many properties.
✅ 3. Inhaled
Finally, we have the option of inhaling CBD smoke.
In this case, we use:
- Buds.
- Hash.
- Liquid containing CBD (for vaping).
This way of taking CBD does not get you "high," because CBD products have a THC concentration of less than 0.2%.
Again, this practice is not permitted in Spain, where the sale of buds and hash is only legalized for technical and collection use.

➡️ Have you ever taken CBD? What has your experience been like?
As research advances, more and more is being discovered about this topic: taking CBD. So it is to be expected that legislation will continue to change, and more and more countries will allow the use of cannabidiol in all its forms.
However, remember to always opt for quality CBD products that have been laboratory-tested to certify that their THC level is below the legal limit.
Products like those we have in our catalog of buds, hash, and CBD oil. If you have any questions, remember you can use the comments to write to us. We'll read them!
Be CBD, my friend.
